Plateau 2019 - Gov Lalong's 2nd Term Bid Gets Major Stakeholders 's Backings...

Plateau 2019 - Gov Lalong,s 2nd term bid gets major stakeholders’ backings

30th January 2019

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Ahead of the gubernatorial elections slated for March 2, 2019 Key leaders and stakeholders   of the All Progressives Congress in  Plateau state   have thrown their weight behind Governor Simon Lalong the  candidate of the All Progressive  Congress APC  .

Similarly the Campaign Council of the ruling  APC, for the re-election of  Simon Lalong was recently   constituted and inaugurated .

It could be recalled that a  statement issued on 27th January, 2019 and signed by Mark Longyen, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity,  made available to newsmen in Jos recently  said the campaign council has the Governor as chairman, with his deputy, Prof Sonni Tyoden as Deputy Chairman.

It reads that  Arc Pam Dung Gyang is to serve as the Director-General of the council, with Hon Jurbe Gonzuk as his Deputy, while Prof Garba Sharubutu is to serve as the Secretary.

The statement  further  said the 49-member council also comprises the following as members:
Hon Letep Dabang,Plateau State APC chairman; Rt Hon Joshua Madaki, Speaker of the state House of Assembly; Solomon Dalung, Minister of Youth and Sports; and Senator Joshua Dariye, ex-Governor of the state.

Three former deputy governors of the state, Jethro Akun, Pauline Tallen, Ignatius Longjan are also members of the campaign council. Also included are Senator Davou  Zang, Senator Timothy Adudu, as well as former Ministers, Dasuki Nakande, Bagudu Hirse, Jonah Madugu, Samuel Mafuyai.

The statement further reads that "Others are: House of Reps members, Suleiman Kwande and Idris Maje; APC NEC members, Jock Alamba and Mohammed Zakari; and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Liberia,James Dimka.

The list also comprises former speakers of the state House of Assembly, Isa Song, Johnclark Dabwan, and Peter Azi. Also included are the D-Gs of ITF and NTA, Joseph Ari and Yakubu Mohammed, respectively.
Senator Victor Lar, Senator Satty Gogwim and a former Clerk of the National Assembly, Umaru Sani, also made the list as members.

According to the statement, four former Secretaries to the state government, Sylvanus Lot, John Gobak, Kevin Kwaplong and Rufus Bature are members, as well as Saleh Kanam, Omar Shityen, John Alkali, Maichibi Vwarji, Lumumba Adeh, Amb Chris Giwa, Prof Emmanuel Garba and Dr Sumaya Hamza.

It further said James Lalu, chairman of the Plateau State Disability Commission, the state APC Youth Leader, Women Leader, APC Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos Communities are also members.

It added that eight directorates have also been established for the campaign and members named for each of them.

Speaking while inaugurating the  2019 campaign council in Jos ,Plateau state Governor  Lalong said,  that  the APC in the state will set up elections monitoring committees to monitor individuals who may want to venture into anti-party activities ahead of the general elections.

He said, “We will not publish the names of those in the committee because you should not know those who would be investigating you,” he said.
He chided former governor of the state and senator representing Plateau North, Jonah David Jang, who recently said he did not build the new government house at Little Rayfield for the present governor to occupy.

The governor said, “I heard that someone said he will take away the keys of the house I’m occupying but he has forgotten that at the time he was occupying the house, we took away the keys from him. Maybe he is dreaming that he still has the keys to the house so he is deceiving someone that he will give him the keys.”
He said the general elections were about the future of Plateau, adding that “the people at the grassroots should be made to understand that those who are responsible for their present poverty woes, who destroyed the education of their children yesterday and looted the national and state treasuries yesterday, are the same people seeking to replace APC and return to power to perpetuate the misery of the masses. Their only aim is return to power to continue their looting spree to the detriment of all of us. Never again should we allow them access to power"

", let me reiterate that the Rescue Administration under my leadership has achieved so much in the past almost four years now and laid a solid foundation for the Plateau State of our collective dreams. The Constitution has already stipulated that we seek re-election for a second term in office and our aim is to return and consolidate on our modest achievements for the benefit of the people. The APC family and indeed the entire people of Plateau State owe us the duty of returning the party to power, failing which we will risk returning the state to the very people who had mortgaged her future and made it the sole inheritance of their own families."

"Already, our record time scorecard in less than four years speaks for itself, cutting across all our five policy thrusts, as we have unleashed the dividends of democracy which have continued to flow and flood all the nooks and crannies of the entire Plateau landscape, thus justifying our bid for re-election in order to continue to do more and consolidate on the ones already put in place. "

"We have, for instance, turned around the Education Sector; we have breathed life into the hitherto comatose civil service; we have stemmed the hitherto open-ended spate of violence; we have diversified the state’s economy to agriculture with amazing results to be savored in the not-too-distant future; we have empowered women and youths like never before; we have resuscitated hitherto moribund state-owned industries; we have completed most of the multi-billion naira projects which we inherited from past administrations and also embarked on new, turn-key projects, such as the Lalong Legacy Projects, among numerous projects "

, I wish to extend my olive branch to all the opposition parties in the state to join hands with us because our victory is a victory for the entire state and not for the APC alone. We must altogether eschew the politics of do-or-die, violence, conflict and rather strive towards creating a better Plateau State for our children yet unborn. We must learn to accept defeat when we lose elections and congratulate the winner without resorting to self-help.  Let me warn that those found on the wrong side of the law in this regard will be severely dealt with in accordance with the laws."

Arch Pam Dung Gyang the Director General of the Governor  Simon  Lalong led administration said from what is on ground the All Progressive Congress APC would win the 2019 elections in the state .

Governor Lalong  has done well and their is no vacancy in Plateau Government house come 2019  ,since he came into power in 2015 ,there has been relative peace in Plateau ,the projects he has done are seen in most part of the state .
Lalong is humble and has provided quality leadership to the people of Plateau.he has done well in revamping moribund companies as well as help reduce poverty in the state by empowering of youths and women .

"
Latep Dabang the All Progressive Congress Chairman who  was represented by Sati Bashir the Secretary of the party in the state who  also spoke at the occasion said Lalong has followed the manifesto of the APC and has done excellently well .
He charged all APC members  especially political appointees  to  ensure that  they deliver their wards .
The party has confidence in those selected ,with those we have  ,we are not afraid of any party ,rather we are sure of victory .
I call on the people of the state to continue to support the party at all times ,he added .

Recently  Yakubu Dati the Commissioner of Information and Communication in  Plateau State in a statement  titled Buhari’s Visit to Plateau and the Lalong Narrative which was made available to newsmen in Jos reads that

the  recent ’s visit to Plateau by President Muhammadu Buhari has emphasized the narrative brought about by Governor Simon Lalong on the Plateau.

The statement reads that "At the Rwang Pam stadium venue of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential rally, people did not care to know where the person standing next to them came from, they did not bother about their faith or ethnicity, all they cared about was that they were there for a common purpose; and in the process demonstrated that it was possible to achieve unity and the peaceful atmosphere for development."

This narrative which is a deliberate policy of the Governor Lalong’s administration is a departure from an inglorious past, where nepotism and tribalism ruled the day and where antagonism was elevated to a state policy.

Part of the twist Governor Lalong’s intervention has brought to bear on the state is that Plateau can rise  above sentiments and be on the path towards sustainable development as is currently being witnessed with the many laudable projects springing up in almost every nook and cranny of the state.

Apart from projects initiated and completed by the state government under Governor Lalong which are too numerous to mention here, the governor has attracted lots of federal projects through the cooperation with other tiers of government and the creation of an enabling environment for investment.

Some of the projects include the N-power project, the Anchor Burrowers Scheme, Mangu water project, Pankshin-Gindiri –Bogoro road, the Lamba- Garam road, the Mobile Police Squadron in Gashish and Shendam as well as the Nigerian Airforce Tactical Search and Rescue unit, kerrang, amongst others.

Unfortunately, there are those who want to cover their eyes to all these achievements simply because it does not serve their political interests to admit that the current administration has walked the talk about making development to thrive in an atmosphere of peace.

What the people of Plateau demonstrated at the presidential rally by turning out in their thousands to receive President Buhari is that the tribes living in denial are fast turning a new leaf.

The unprecedented massive turn out of Plateau people irrespective of party affiliation, the excitement and happiness written on the faces of the people, the zeal and gusto of the masses to catch a glimpse of the President and Governor Lalong speak volumes about how the people appreciate what the current administration has done for them.

This definitely is a vote of confidence passed on the administration of President Buhari and that of Governor Lalong by the people and is a demonstration of the people's endorsement of the bid to return them to office.

It has also removed whatever doubts anyone could have on the prospects of Governor Lalong retuning to office.

Worthy of note in this regard, is the gale of defections of politicians of repute from other parties especially from the Peoples Democratic Paty, PDP, to the APC as witnessed shortly before and during the visit of the president to Plateau.

As it is, one can say as a matter of fact, that other parties have been emptied of their membership into the APC with nothing left in terms of quality and number that the opposition parties can hold on to.

Shortly before President Buhari’s visit, the APC welcomed Chief Chris Giwa who has been a strong pillar of support for the PDP in Jos South and other adjoining local governments.

Giwa’s size in the politics of Plateau North senatorial zone is huge given his widely acclaimed acts of philanthropy and the consequent amount of goodwill he enjoys across broad.

Little wonder that when Giwa moved to the APC, the whole of Jos South and adjoining local governments shook and the thousands that followed him was such that the PDP could no longer call a meeting there.

The PDP also lost Alhaji Auwalu, popularly known as Dankurma who's influence in Jos North is such that it was said he singlehandedly selected the PDP Chairmanship candidate.
In Plateau South senatorial district, the PDP also lost a great figure in the person of Senator Victor Lar, popularly known as ‘Mainasara.’

Lar had represented Langtang North/Langtang South, the Federal constituency of the current governorship candidate of the PDP in Plateau State, Jerry Useni for eight years. He then contested for the Senate and defeated the same Useni in the epic race for the Senate seat in 2011 which has been tagged the David versus Goliath fight.

Useni’s dream of going to the Senate was only made possible because Lar in 2015 opted to go for a higher office. But the people of the zone know that any day Lar pitches his tent against Useni in a political race, the latter usually takes cover to avoid a repeat of the humiliation he received in 2011.

Lar has moved to the APC with his numerous supporters leaving the PDP in Plateau South empty and without substance.

In Plateau Central, Senator Sati Gogwim, another wonder kid who enacted the David versus Goliath scenario by defeating then Senate Deputy President, Ibrahim Mantu, has joined the APC.

Simon Ngwan, a grassroots mobilizer who had been the bulwark of the PDP in the central zone, also moved to APC with his large followership among the voting populace who believe in him.

Notable decampees like Hon Kassam Ngap Jacob, a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Shehu Saleh Hassan, former member of the National Assembly and Hon Simon Barry, a former State Chairman of the ANPP amongst several others has grossly depopulated the ailing PDP.

As it is, no party in Plateau has the quality of persons that are in the APC at the moment. The party has transformed into a mass movement.

This has been made possible by the hard work, candour and camaraderie of Governor Lalong, who has embraced all, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliations.

Little wonder, Plateau is referred to as the home of APC.

Remark Ditep an APC youth leader said from what is on ground I am confident that our party would coast to victory at the polls .

The youths of plateau are with us ,the elders and stakeholders of plateau are with us ,with the kind of support we have ,I am confident of victory for the APC  he added .

Insecurity In Plateau Declined Drastically Under Lalong....

Insecurity in Plateau declined  drastically under Lalong

25th January, 2019

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Plateau Regeneration Group  on Friday said that Insecurity in Plateau  declined drastically under Governor Simon  Lalong led administration .

The group also noted that Plateau state had before now  suffered many setbacks in the hands of its leaders and specialised cabals who knitted the gory stories thus leading to an era of incessant crisis in the state.
This nagging situation, the  group said changed in the past 3 years

Governor Simon Lalong has done more in tackling insecurity in plateau than any ex Governor of the state .

The group in a statement signed by Pam Datiri the Public Relations officer of the group made this statement hinged its reason on the peace and security of Plateau under Governor Lalong.

The statement reads that it has observed that the opposition parties  derives pleasure in playing politics with insecurity
We have observed that one of the major campaign point  of the opposition party is the issue of insecurity and as a group we know that the Simon Lalong led  APC administration has done more in tackling insecurity that any  government in the  state .

The APC led Government in Plateau has done well in providing dividends of democracy in Plateau especially when it comes to tackling insecurity .
Lalong led administration on resumption of office  set up a 14-man committee, seven each from the warring Berom and Fulani communities, to reconcile their differences towards lasting peace, according to Governor
The state Governor also established the Plateau peace building agency which is working tirelessly to ensure lasting peace in plateau

The statement further reads that from our investigation  Governor Simon Lalong  Administration has and would never  contemplated abandoning the course of the Plateau project as being insinuated by some people for cheap political relevance.

 .

Governor Lalong,s  administration  has done everything possible within its reach to deliver to the people a State that is devoid of crisis, free for all to practice one’s religion of choice and to go about their normal businesses without molestations.

on assumption of office in May 2015, the Lalong led administration  made it a priority that Peace, Security and Good Governance must take the centre stage for any meaningful and sustainable development. This led to the establishment of the Peace and Reconciliation Committee that deliberated and made far reaching recommendations for government to implement. Amongst these recommendations are what we have today as the Plateau Peace Building Agency, the first of its kind in the country and doing a good job of advocacy, pro-activeness in conflict management, etc.

Another far-reaching recommendation, which government embraced was tackling the issue of IDPs and as it is about 204 households from Kakuruk, Kuzen and Kura Falls in Barkin Ladi returned home .

To ensure lasting peace in Plateau , the Lalong led administration attracted the establishment of the 205 Combat and Rescue units in Kerang and Mobile Police Squadron in Shendam. The Lalong led government  also procured and distributed over 50 security vehicles, equipped with modern communication gadgets.

Also the Lalong adminstration also approved the recruitment and training of neighbourhood personnel attached to Operation Rainbow for community policing and intelligence gathering.

There is also recent approval to establish Mobile Police Barracks in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi. In fact, as a demonstration of support towards government’s efforts, the community through the Nigeria Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) has given a temporary site for mobile police barrack, pending development of its permanent site.

As a group we commend Lalong led administration for his efforts in tackling insecurity and call on the people of the state to support him and ensure he wins the forthcoming 2019 Governorship election in the state.

RE: "Man Divorces Wife For Insisting on Voting For Buhari" is Fake News

25th January 2019

The Plateau state government wishes to draw the attention of the public and media organisations to disregard the story titled "Man Divorces Wife For Insisting on Voting For Buhari"

The story is not only fake but a figment of the imagination of the author.

Following the report, the government conducted a thorough investigation and discovered that no such incident took place in Kanam Local Government nor any part of Plateau state.

The publication is meant to create sensation and tension in the polity aimed at creating confusion amongst the populace.

President Buhari's supporter's are passionate Nigerians whose numbers is rising by the day and would stand by him no matter the circumstances because they believe and  trust in his quest to make the country better.

The fake news is the handiwork of the opposition elements who are already scared of the massive turn out of the supporters at Presidential rally at the Rwang Pam Township stadium in Jos.

The general public is hereby called upon to disregard the fake news published to tarnish the image of the state, noting that Plateau has a special place in the democratic history of Nigeria, especially now that Governor Simon Lalong has positively aligned the state to national discourse.

The crowd took over the two podiums chanting “sai Baba” 4+4 for Lalong and Buhari , with Lalong we stand , while others climbed the roof top of vehicles in the presidential entourage in an attempt to have a glimpse of him.
An hour after the President took his seat, the event could not commence as security agents tried tirelessly to push the crowd behind a barrier.

The crowd had broken through a barrier 20 minutes before the President’s arrival when they mistook the arrival of certain dignitaries for the President.

Alhaji Nagelu Garaba an APC stalwart said that the president’s visit was a welcome development.

He  said because of the love the people of the state has for the APC, people of the state have  trooped to the stadium and airport to receive the President

‘‘ we  pray that he would win the presidential election and the country will be changed for good, “he said.

I am overwhelmed with the crowd at  the airport and stadium ,he stressed .

Nagelu also said President  Buhari deserved second term so that he could complete his fight against corruption .

‘‘We are here to give our full support to President Buhari to run for second term.

“He has done well in the areas of road project, creation of jobs, and fight against corruption among others.

‘‘So we decided we must give him the needed support to finish the good work he has started,”

Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday  extended his  heartfelt appreciation to the people of Plateau State, who turned out in innumerable numbers to welcome him in Jos, during his presidential campaign visit on Saturday.

A statement signed by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President reads that the Rwang Pam Township Stadium, venue of the event, was completely overrun by a sea of humanity, made of ecstatic supporters of the President, who kept hailing the man they love and admire. So much was the tumult that the President could not eventually address the crowd.

After waiting for about an hour, with the melee not receding, but rather increasing in tempo and fervour, President Buhari received illustrious Plateau citizens who were crossing to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from other political parties, waved at the appreciative crowd, and left for Abuja.

The President lauds Plateau people for turning out in their thousands to welcome him into Jos, lining the roads right from the airport, defying the boiling sun.

He thanks them for their steadfastness over the years, and for continued faith in the administration, which was indicated by the turnout at the stadium.

President Buhari sues for greater restraint from teeming supporters and appreciative Nigerians in other campaign stops ahead, pleading that they allow the campaign programme run as planned, since it is also an opportunity for him to give a stewardship report.

"We have been serving you for about four years, we want another four years mandate from you, it is needful for you to allow us give you a report. You deserve it," the President says.

Campaign visits resume on Monday, as President Buhari is resolved to get to all parts of the country, before the February 14 deadline.

.
Also Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong  on Saturday said the unprecedented massive turn out of Plateau people irrespective of party affiliation to the Presidential rally of the All Progress Congress APC  is not just a demonstration of love for President Muhammadu  Buhari but also the endorsement of the success of the Rescue Administration in the state.

Lalong said the non partisant welcome confirms Plateau's restored status by his administration as the acclaimed "Home of Peace and Tourism".

A statement issued and signed by state Commissioner of Information  and Communication Yakubu Dati  while appreciating Plateau people said though the Presidential campaign launch was an APC affair, citizens crossed party border lines to endorse President Buhari, Governor Lalong and the APC for a fresh mandate in the 2019 general elections.

Dati said Governor Lalong commended Plateau citizens who renounced their former parties for the APC,noting that there is more room for those waiting in the wings to join the party.

The Commissioner said the response of Plateau citizens to President Buhari's visit has ended lies that Plateau is a PDP state.

He said the remnants in the PDP are gasping for breath for survival and have resorted to noise making and blackmail to gain cheap popularity.

The Governor assured that a fresh mandate for President Buhari, himself  and  the APC will witness a massive turnaround for the good of Nigeria & Plateau state.

The statement further reads that Lalong appeal  to APC members, supporters  and  well wishers to go on with their campaigns without hate speech and bitterness expressing confidence that victory awaits APC at the polls.

Our correspondent reports that the Adams Oshomole, the Director General of the President Buhari campaign Rotimi Ameachi ,Pauline Tallen one time deputy Governor amongst others  were all on the entourage of the President

Several prominent personality in the state also  dumped the  Peoples Democratic Party PDP for the APC

Amongst those that defected to ruling All Progressive Congress, APC , from people Democratic party, PDP, and other political parties are Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan , the PDP chairmanship candidate of Mangu Local Government Area in the last council elections, Senator Victor Mainasara Lar, a governorship aspirant of PDP in the last party primaries,Senator Satti Gogwim, Hon. Saleh Hassan, Alhaji Auwal Dankurma.

A vehicle has been set in motion and the gear lever is in my hands, the level of its movement will no doubt be determined by the speed engaged, this in itself is a product of necessity for the speed.
This administration like I clamored although the period of my campaign is a Partnership called “solidarity” in which we all move like a chain knowing fully that if one part is cut off, stagnation becomes our bane. I make bold to say that this administration cannot run without criticism and opposition, but I know every administration needs is constructive criticisms, geared towards improving a system not destruction. One can only show his love for his community by demonstrating his love by positively engaging in all its activities and improving same, sponsored unguided utterances based on sentiments, diabolical intentions and emotions should have no place in this dispensation. As youths we are the engine room of high intellectual discourse of development in Mupun Land, as future leaders we must begin to set standards for tomorrow’s people centered democracy.
It is sad that the cankerworm of village superiority have continued to threaten our collective unity as a people under one God. This is not to exclude the state government because our community must not be the museum of abundant projects, we have work for it and we deserve the dividends… give us the roads and others!
I wish to congratulate all those defeated in the polls, I choose the word “defeated” rather than “lose” because they are not losers, and they created the competition with a heart of patriotism and resilience without which the victory would have been undeserved. I offer you comrades and brothers: comrade Dakusuk pandang, comrade. Satmak Ngyak, comrade. Walshak Kefas open hands of partnership, this administration will not run without you. You will serve as think tank for the executive; once again my hands of friendship are extended to you all as yours extended to the movement the very first day you signified intention to run for an office.

I again pay salutation to pioneers of the movement Late Barr. Baba Gamalieil ( may his soul rest in peace) Mr. Sam Ngumar, Mr, Vrengz lamindong , Barr, Obadiah Thomdet and to others that time and space may not permit me to call.
Great Mupun Youths!  To you all I sue for peace, tolerance and understanding with the pledge that we will not rest on our oars, and to the executives I wish to say proverbially that your hands are set on the grinding mill…
To this end, diligent Mupun youths! I accept the task to pull the wagon you are pushing, with the virtues of character, selflessness, credibility and a devotional sense of commitment to completion – so help us God, Amen.

At the end of the youth revolution under my watch .

Let it be said afterwards by our successors and even our unborn children

Buhari's Visit To Plateau And The Lalong Narrative....

Buhari’s visit to Plateau and the Lalong narrative-

20th January 2019

By Yakubu Dati

Last Saturday’s visit to Plateau by President Muhammadu Buhari has emphasized the narrative brought about by Governor Simon Lalong on the Plateau.

At the Rwang Pam stadium venue of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential rally, people did not care to know where the person standing next to them came from, they did not bother about their faith or ethnicity, all they cared about was that they were there for a common purpose; and in the process demonstrated that it was possible to achieve unity and the peaceful atmosphere for development.

This narrative which is a deliberate policy of the Governor Lalong administration, is a departure from an inglorious past, where nepotism and tribalism ruled the day and where antagonism was elevated to a state policy.

What the people of Plateau demonstrated at the presidential rally by turning out in their thousands to receive President Buhari is that the tribe living in denial are fast turning a new leaf.

Simon Ngwan, a grassroot mobilizer who had been the bulwark of the PDP in the central zone, also moved to APC with his large followership among the voting populace who believe in him.

This has been made possible by the hard work, candour and camaraderie of Governor Laong, who has embraced all, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliations.

Little wonder, Plateau is referred to as the home of APC.

That PMB Outing In Jos

That PMB Outing in Jos

20th January 2019

By Lawrence Audu

It was thrilling. It was feverish. It was jam-packed. It roared and it surged. The chant of “Sai Baba” rented the atmosphere! These few words describe the reception President Muhammadu Buhari received in no other place than Jos, the capital of Plateau state and in Nigeria.

It was indeed an elaborate reception for a man that has endeared himself to the people of the Plateau in ways too numerous to mention. Take it or leave it, President Muhammadu Buhari has indeed proved pundits wrong again as we march toward the presidential elections. I want to believe that those that hitherto expressed reservations on the goodwill the president enjoys in the North Central region would have a rethink.

It took over 30 minutes for the president to alight from his vehicle as the waiting crowd busted into ecstasy as his convoy sauntered into the Rwang Pam stadium, venue of the campaign rally. The security agents battled in vain to control the surging crowd that wanted to catch a glimpse of their idol. Tell, me, who else commands such appeal in Nigeria other than President Muhammadu Buhari. This much I have argued in many forums, and the Jos experience indeed proved me right.

I do not know how to describe President Muhammadu Buhari in simple words, but what I would say is that he is one man that has over the years exhibited a trait that resonates with the common man on the street. He has also over the years proven to be against those that do not have the interest of the masses at heart. This much could be verified by the gang up against him by a section of the population that have subjected the people to untold hardship despite our abundance as a country.

In the over three years he has been in the saddle of the leadership of this great country, that critical constituency that constitutes the bulk of our population have indeed felt his impact. And the happy crowd at the Rwang Pam stadium confirmed it. I marveled at those that think that President Muhammadu Buhari’s appeal is overhyped. As a fact, he has just started, and there seems to be no stopping the enigmatic personality. I am not sure in the history of political gatherings in Nigeria; there has ever been a time when a presidential candidate is not even allowed to deliver a speech at a campaign rally.

This was what happened at the stadium; it was tough for the security agents to control the crowd that the president had to be sneaked out of the stadium through the back door as the crowd surged towards the podium where he was seated. The DG of the APC campaign council, Rotimi Amaechi also tried in vain to calm the crowd, he spoke in English and Hausa, but the only language the crowd understood was “Sai Baba,”.

The governors of Plateau and Kogi State also tried to mitigate the crowd; they also were unsuccessful. And what does this tell us? Your guess is as good as mine. I am on a high penning down this article because those that have labeled the president as a religious champion have failed woefully. Those that have attempted to paint the president in bad light amongst the Plateau people also failed as the people came out in droves to catch a glimpse of the man who has touched their lives in meaningful ways.

As one who is conversant with the politics of Plateau, what happened in Jos is an indication that the people of Plateau and indeed the North Central region have realized that President Muhammadu Buhari is indeed what the region has been yearning for. Make no mistakes about this. It was not a fluke; the crowd was not rented, those at the stadium were not ghosts but human beings that came out to appreciate their own.

The Jos experience reminded me of the same reception he received in Maiduguri in 2015, where security operatives had one hell of a time controlling the crowd right from the airport to Ramat Square. I stand to be corrected, whenever the people have an opportunity to have an encounter with President Muhammadu Buhari, their emotions run riot, so much so that they won’t be able to control themselves because of the quantum of love they have for him. And one that negates the obnoxious narrative peddled by mischief makers.

President Muhammadu Buhari is the man any day and anytime and it would take a while for Nigeria to have another leader whose appeal cuts across the young and the old, and Christians and Muslims because he is an honest man and and a detribalized Nigeria who would tell the truth no matter the situation or the circumstance. And I ask, how many of our political leaders can boast of such?

I stand to be corrected, the over three years the president has administered this country, transparency and accountability have been the watchword. The bulk of the projects and policies initiated are people oriented. He is not one that is used to grandstanding or making false promises to get votes or win the confidence of the people. For him, his words are yes.

He also has a dedicated personality whose patriotism is beyond reproach. Are we not blessed to have such an individual lead us in this critical time of our existence? Are we going to be gullible to the antics of those that do not wish us well in this country? And do you change a winning team? The answers are self-evident. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and this much President Muhammadu Buhari has proved.  What manner of conviction do we need again to line up behind him on the march to greatness? That he has yet offered himself for service to the country is indeed a blessing. And it behooves on us to line up massively behind him and replicate the Jos experience at the polls come February 16, 2019. Let us keep a date with history. I am just excited, and so the majority of Nigerians. That PMB outing in Jos says it all. With Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria shall be great again.
