The State of Plateau as a platform seeks to promote democracy on the local level by bringing the fore issues concerning the State, and facilitating citizens debate on public issues, through participation in government decision making.

Amb Chris Giwa Dumps PDP To Join APC....

4th January, 2019.

On the 22nd of June, 2017, I rejoined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau against the wish of the majority of my supporters who had rather suggested we join the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State.

During my reception back to the PDP in Langsfield leisure park,  Rayfield in Jos, I did state that my rejoining the PDP was to ensure the return of Distinguished Senator Jonah David Jang back to the Senate.

Sadly, as noble as my intentions were, concerted efforts to relegate my supporters and I became the order of the day.

After Senator Jang indicated interest to contest for the Presidency of our Dear country, I was prevailed to aspire to succeed him as the next Senator of Plateau North Senatorial Zone. The decision was not an easy one for me.  On the last day of the sale of nomination form,  I succumbed to the intense pressure having been convinced that since Senator Jang was no longer contesting for the said position, I was free from my pledge and had the capacity and track record to represent our people and effect positive transformation.

The crowd which thronged the Plateau PDP State secretariat when I went to officially announce my candidature was a testament of our goodwill and mobilisation capacity, yet during the primaries election, we were subjected to the most gruesome political gang up ever. To God be the glory, we nonetheless received massive votes from delegates.

Today, we stand on the threshold of history whether to continue with the PDP just for the sake of grabbing power. Recent events within has been frightening;  relegation of key stakeholders in decision making among other issues.

For the past few months,  the party has become balkanised with no genuine efforts towards stopping the drift. Thus, i have decided to heed to the call of my supporters  to re-channel our energy, goodwill,  and resources to mobilising victory for the genuine Plateau project.

We are conscious of the fact that we will be called names by our friends opposed to our new direction. We are however consoled that the only constant thing in life is change. Change for us means impacting on the lives of our people  and creating a positive difference. Joining the APC avails us unique opportunities untapped by the PDP to strengthen our capacity as a people dedicated and committed to even and sustainable development.

Efffectively from today the 4th of January, 2019, we have collectively resigned from the PDP and align ourselves with the Rescue led administration of Governor Lalong for the progress of our Dear Plateau.

May God bless Plateau.

Amb Chris M. Giwa
