Taking on this mantle of leadership marked a significant milestone in our political and democratic journey as a people. It was also with a clarion call on us to deliver dividends of democracy along the 5-point Policy Thrusts that we had presented.
, four years down the lane, without prejudice to the just concluded re-run elections of 23rd March 2019, and the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), you once again came out en-masse and voted us to serve a second and final term as Executive Governor of the State, together with my Deputy, Professor Sonni G. Tyoden.
With gratitude to God Almighty, on behalf of myself and the Deputy Governor, I sincerely thank you all. We whole-heartedly accept this mandate to serve for a second and final term with all the humility it deserves. Above all, we accept this mandate by equally soliciting your usual cooperation and partnership as we strive to sustain the execution of our mandate.
The outcome of the exercise in the State was clearly an amazing show of confidence and trust. It was also referendum on our most cherished principles of Unity and Peace as well as affirmation of the desire to move to the Next Level.
Let me use this opportunity to urge my fellow citizens to regard this victory at the polls as victory for the whole of Plateau, with no victor, no vanquished. We had a dream, which we collectively and tirelessly worked towards achieving it and succeeded. To me, this victory is a mark of honour and clarion call for consolidation of our gains and the sustainable peaceful coexistence for the good of the State. Together, we will do more. I urge all citizens to celebrate in harmony with even the opposition without harassment, intimidation and provocative statements against any person or group.

To my fellow Contestants, who not only participated in the historic Gubernatorial Debate, prior to the elections and also contested with me, I wish to congratulate you for your matured conduct during and after our electioneering campaigns. I also extend my hands of friendship and urge you to share in the patriotic zeal of building a virile Plateau so that we can bequeath a positive and lasting legacy for the younger generations.

He further said that " i equally extend my congratulations and hands of friendship to the newly elected and returned members of the Plateau State House of Assembly and indeed the National Assembly. I look forward to a mutually beneficial and more robust working relationship with all of you.
I pledge that government will continue to cooperate with the Honourable Members-Elect at all times

Marcas Bulus a PDP supporter who spoke to our correspondent said   Governor Simon Lalong of the All Progressive Congress APC would have a smooth ride in the 2019 elections because my party presented an elder man as candidate
“, My party the People Democratic Party also suffer a great setback in the 2019 election as a result of the allegation of inbalance
Also age is a disadvantage to Useni “
He also  said Senator JT Useni is from Taroh ethnic stock in Langtang north local government council of the state, the member representing Langtang north/ Langtang South federal constituency and PDP flag bearer Hon. Beni Lar is also from Langtang North.
Similarly Barrister Peter Dandam Kefas the flagbear of the party for the Plateau South Senatorial zone is also tarok .
The trio are all from Tarok ethnic stock in the state and more over Useni has done poorly as a senator .

Marcus  who also spoke to our correspondent said Useni is not marketable because of his poor performance in the National Assembly in the past three years and his choice of deputy Governor
Useni made the wrong choice in selecting a deputy who is not popular and also a member from the COCIN church which Useni is also a member ,the COCIN /COCIN ticket would not sell in Plateau.
He said The Catholic Vs COCIN criteria to which history seem to prove this theory right is key in Plateau politics
“As from 1999 to 20017 when Dariye was the governor his deputy Botmang was a catholic, Jonah Jang (cocin) his deputy Paulin Tallen (Catholic) Longjan (Catholic), Lalong ( Catholic) his deputy- Tyoden (COCIN

Also a  Jos based legal practitioner, Mr Gyang Zi, has  castigated PDP over its claim of been robbed of the Plateau Governorship elections saying ``PDP should blame itself for its woes.’’

The PDP and its Governorship Candidate, Gen Jerry Useni, had described the re-election of Lalong as fraudulent and promised to challenge it at the election petition tribunal.
Useni, in a Press Conference last Sunday, had claimed that he was robbed of his victory at the polls, which he said was rigged, and pledged to reclaim his mandate at the tribunal.
But Zi, in a chat with newsmen in Jos on Tuesday strongly blamed the PDP for shooting itself down even before the election commenced.
``PDP in Plateau has a better chance of winning the elections but it actually destroyed itself from the onset. The PDP leadership became extremely insensitive and arrogant before the elections.
``While people were still struggling to get over the choice of the Governorship candidate, the party leadership imposed a very unpopular personality on them as deputy as a very controversial circumstance bluffing all dissented voices.
``I wish to advise the PDP and its governorship candidate not to waste their resources and time going to the election petition tribunal as the election has been won and lost, ’’ the legal practitioner advised.
Zi called on Useni and the PDP to accept defeat and boldly accept the outcome of the election and congratulate Governor Lalong on his victory.
He however, advised Lalong to open his arms and embrace everybody and run an all-inclusive government irrespective of political or ethnic differences in order to ensure growth and development of the state.

Why Lalong Won 2019 Election....

Why Lalong won 2019 Election.

26th March,2019

Election is the core of Democracy. For a candidate to win, he must be voted by the people. Rigging, rancor and violence are part of the core features of politics in Africa.

On the Plateau, the incumbent governor defeated his opponent better this year than he did to the PDP candidate in 2015.

The APC won with 4,466 votes more and above   the difference between 2015 and 2019 votes.

In 2019, difference between the parties is 48,752 while in 2015 the difference between APC and PDP in favor of Lalong was 44,286 votes respectively.

Hence, the APC made an upward progression in votes addition of 4,466 in 2019. This means that the APC became stronger on the Plateau than it was in 2015.

WHY LALONG REMAIN GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE IN 2019.

1.  Multiple opposition candidates. Like in Oyo state for example, Seyi Makinde won because the opposition party aligned themselves against the incumbent. They pulled their strenuous strengths together and polled more votes than the APC in the state. The Oyo strategy works for the people. Plateau would have adopted such a strategy.

2. Tarok people voting APC during the main election and in the rerun or supplementary election of on 23rd March. This clearly shows that the Tarok nation is not ready for the leadership of the state.  Charity they said begins at home. The Langtang people didn't bring more votes from their two local government areas of langtang North and Langtang South to support the strength of votes polled by PDP in the Plateau north senatorial zone.

3. Late defections from the PDP to the APC at the eve of the 2019 elections. This is a part of the weaknesses of the PDP. Major candidate defect to ruling party when the elections were just days ahead.

4. Age of PDP candidate: On the Plateau, unlike in Nigeria generally, age played a major role. So many people were angry with the choice of the PDP to bring an aged general as candidate. This prompted some defections into the APC by some grassroots PDP Youths days to the governorship elections.

5. The choice of PDP deputy governorship candidate. The candidate was unknown and unpopular. You can't go into a strategic election with an incumbent with such a calculation.

6. Money was a factor too in the PDP. They lack the funds for logistics. While the APC we're better in this right.

7. Plateau decision to retain Lalong. Plateau people want him. Plateau people are okay with him. Plateau voted for Lalong more in 2019 than they did in 2015. Lalong is more equipped now than he was in 2015.

Like Joseph de maistre will say "a people get the kind of leadership they deserve and in Democracy, people get the leaders they deserve or want"
