Plateau State Begins "Code Plateau'" Programme To Create Digital WorkForce....

Plateau State Begins ‘Code Plateau’ Programme To Create Digital Workforce

25th April,2019

Code Plateau, Digital, eGovernment, IT, PICTDA, Silicon Plateau, Simon Lalong, software, technology, workforce

Plateau State government has launched the ‘Code Plateau’ programme to create a digital workforce as the state begins its march into eGovernment.

The Code Plateau is an eight months full-time immersive Software Development Bootcamp designed for young people who want to start their career in IT and kick-start their portfolio of real-life projects that utilizes modern technology stacks. The programme targets young graduates seeking to grow and position themselves for local and global opportunities.

To participate, visit: for more information and how you can apply.

Application closes on May 24th 2019.

The ‘Code Plateau’ programme is part of a larger framework for digital inclusion and skill-building within the Silicon Plateau initiative by Governor Simon Lalong to rework the state’s economy to leverage global IT opportunities.

Silicon Plateau is the aggregate of all the ideas and value chain relating to ICT development in Plateau State and is being incubated by the Plateau State ICT Development Agency (PICTDA).

The Silicon Plateau was first publicly mentioned at the 2019 West African Convergence Conference in Lagos last March in a presentation: ‘Silicon Plateau & Lalong’s Vision for Technology Investment,’ by Hon Commissioner, Science & Tech, Plateau State, Daniel Manjang alongside the Director-General  of PICTDA, Mr. David Daser.

“The flagship of the Silicon Plateau Project is Code Plateau  and within eight months, we hope to offer an immersive job placement training for software development,” said Daser.

“The fellowship is a full-time Immersive Boot camp that is designed for young people. PICTDA would grant the fellows a collaborative learning environment with all-around support from technical to industry job readiness.

“As Human Capital Development is one of the key focus areas of the rescue administration, the Plateau State government through the PICTDA has initiated the Code Plateau as a platform for re-skilling our youths who are interested in kick-starting their careers in IT and preparing them for the job market,” added Daser.

According to him, at the end of the Code Plateau Fellowship, “fellows can expect to be able to build impressive, portfolio-ready projects that will demonstrate their ability to add value to their next or new job as great software engineers, therefore, this intensive program is for those who are committed to having tangible, job-ready skills upon graduation.”

Plateau state is coming out of a long night of upheavals but in the last four years, the state has steadily progress in winning the peace.

The ICT agency came into existence last year by an Act of Parliament and is conceived to push the framework for the state’s ICT agenda as well as retooling the state’s large population of young people to become functional in a 21st century borderless economy.

“PICTDA has prepared a world-class curriculum to prepare our youths for the global competitive IT job market. The first half (3-months) of the fellowship based on this curriculum is described as “Floating Surface” because of how much information it packs in. In the second half (3-Months) called “Diving Deep”, you use your new skills to build projects, while learning new technologies on the fly. “By the end, you will be an autonomous engineer, capable of tackling unique unfamiliar problems and building complex applications. The last two months would be internship placements of fellows across tech companies within Nigeria. This is to give the required on-the-job experience in tech companies to finally prepare our fellows for Job placements,” said Daser.

1 July 2019 – Induction & commencement

20th September 2019 – End of “Floating Surface”

23rd September 2019 to 27th September 2019- Evaluation and selection of successful candidates

7th October 2019- Commencement of Diving Deeper (Only for successful candidates)

27th December 2019 – End of “Diving Deep”

3rd January 2020 – 28th February 2020.

We Support Lalong's Decision To Rebuild Terminus Market - Traders In Plateau....

24th April,2019

 By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Association of Dynamic Traders in Plateau State has said they are  in support of the decision by the Plateau State governor, Hon. Simon  Lalong to demolish, reconstruct and rebuild the Jos Terminus Market.

Rwas Eric Gyang, the Chairman of Association of Dynamic Traders in Plateau state in a statement made available to newsmen in Jos on Wednesday  reads that "We are in support of this decision because this is the first time that an administration has been able to define in basic terms the right remedy for the burnt down Terminus Market since it was razed in 2001."

The statement reads that "A previous administration in the state had toyed with the idea of renovating the structure by merely replacing destroyed and weak pillars but this had failed while another administration came with the idea of totally pulling it down to clear the entire place but this also could not be achieved."

"The decision of the current governor to remove the scraps weak components and at the same time raise modern structures to build a commercial hub is the product of deep and innovative thinking which must be encouraged."

"We are led to support this idea because it will make Jos, the Plateau State capital a mini Dubai with modern shops and magnificent edifices that would attract tourists to the state."

"As businessmen and entrepreneurs, we recognize the role of capital in driving a commercial venture hence we are not dazed by the amount estimated to carry out the work but are satisfied with the explanation given by the governor on how he intends to achieve this and the N1.1bn earmarked for the project."

"At this juncture, we will like to sound a strong note of warning to those who did not understand the concept of the project and the amount earmarked to achieve it but are twisting the narrative to make it look like the entire sum is for demolition."

Traders in Plateau State are prepared to support anything that will be for the general good of the people of the state and we make bold to state that it is our estimation that rebuilding the Terminus Market with the introduction of four other component is a laudable idea that would serve the interest of the people of the state.

We will like to call the attention of the people of the state and beyond to the explanation given by the governor that he sees the need to rebuild the market because it has been the main source of revenue for the government which would help in addressing the challenges of the state by earning more revenue for the government especially now that it wants to be able to pay the new minimum wage.

Hence the N1.1bn cannot be for demolition of worn out components but includes the reconstruction of the market and we must all support this great idea.

We call on the contractors to expedite action on the demolition so that the process can begin for the people to reap the benefits therein.

Kaigama Urges Lalong To Maintain Plateau Unity,Peace In Second Tenure...

Kaigama urges Lalong to maintain  Plateau unity, peace in second tenure

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

23rd April,2019

Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos and Coadjutor of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, has urged Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, to continue maintaining peace and Plateau unity during his second tenure.

Kaigama stated this in a congratulatory letter to Governor Lalong over his victory in the recently conducted gubernatorial elections in the state, which he personally signed and made available to the governor on Tuesday.

A statement issued by Mark Longyen, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity made available to newsmen in Jos  said Kaigama also called on the governor to be magnanimous in victory and extend his hand of fellowship to his opponents who lost to him so as to develop the state.

“I write on behalf of myself, the clergy, the religious and the entire laity of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos, to congratulate you on this feat and to rejoice with you on this act of confidence placed on you by the people of Plateau State. We wish you every success as you are set to begin your second tenure as Governor,” Kaigama wrote.

“We are confident that the trust placed in you by the citizens of Plateau State will inspire you to continue in your efforts of promoting the Unity of the state, leading it to the path of prosperity, further wellbeing and security for the people,” the Apostolic Administrator said.

“I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign; leave your doors open to the contributions of those political affiliations may be different from yours,” he added.

While noting that the task before the governor would be hectic, the Apostolic Administrator expressed confidence that God who has returned him to the seat would provide the governor with the enabling grace to promote peace, social awareness and reconciliation.

Kaigama also urged Governor Lalong to continue to work in accordance with his administration’s people-oriented programs, especially at the grassroots level, stressing that it would engender the desired catalyst for the state’s social and economic development.

The Apostolic Administrator also extended the sincere support of the Catholic Family of the Archdiocese to the Lalong Administration to bring about peace, democratic, political and economic reforms.

He also urged those who contested against the governor and lost to extend their hands of fellowship to the governor and his administration with a view to collaborating with him “for the common good of all Plateau people rather than for personal or group material interests.”

PUSDUNG 2019 To Hold Saturday 27th April...

22nd April,2019

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Ngas Development Association NDA   a group in Plateau state  has appealed to the relevant State tourism authorities to provide a calendar for the celebration of  rich culture and tradition of the people of the state.

The group further said "by doing so, it is possible to maximize these great tourism potentials by reaping the benefits therein for the economy of the state."

President NDA Nde Gonen Gofwen at a press briefing  to usher in the week-long activities for PUSDUNG 2019 at the NUJ Press Center, Jos  in Jos said "I am highly honoured to brief you today on our preparations so far for the Ngas Festival of Arts and Culture PUSDUNG 2019.

For those of you who are aware, the annual festival of the Ngas nation is the foremost on the Plateau having started and held as far back as in May 14, 1988 at the beautiful Nefur Arena, Pankshin.

Since it began as an initiative of the Ngas Youth Movement, then under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel G. Manasa, it has metamorphosed into a first class festival drawing lots of people and tourists from far and near to celebrate with the Ngas nation, its rich culture and traditions driven solely by the Ngas Development Association.

What started practically as an experiment that did not gain the acceptance of many, today, has over the years; changed the course of the organization and management of such cultural celebrations. Increasingly, the tourism potentials of the state hitherto hidden by certain bureaucratic tendencies had been unveiled by the rich celebrations by most of the tribes in the state.

PUSDUNG has, over the years, added colour and character to the calendar of the state’s quest to rise above the slogan:Home of Peace and Tourism to a truly tourist destination. We have continued to make it come to reality as well as other cultural festivals being held in the State. The PUSDUNG cultural festival has been a purveyor of all that the State needs to actualize the dream, even as we are aware of the declaration of a state of emergency on this sector by the Governor Simon Bako Lalong’s administration.

I am sure the Ngas people as well as other tribes could help stimulate this drive, as we are willing to up the tempo of the cultural extravaganza. Over the years, there has been an increase in the quantum of human traffic to Pankshin for the purpose of the festival. We are aware that businesses benefit in great deal due largely to this same number of visitors.

We are celebrating PUSDUNG 2019 with a theme: Educational Transformation in Ngasland: Imperative for Accelerated Development. Those who know our station concerning this issue may know that it is apt for our current situation, and that is why we are passionate to bring an end to the problem.

Lately, the Association noted that as people we have seen the best and the worst of the fortunes of education in our land. It is on record that several of our sons and daughters were educated to various levels and returned to be pioneers in the State. One of such persons is the late Police Commissioner Joseph Dechi Gomwalk who set a record and was awarded a first class degree in zoology from the nation’s premier University of Ibadan. There are many other examples that space and time may not permit us to recall.

However, over time, we seem to have lost that enviable and lofty position to several factors. As an Association committed to the future of our people, we cannot just seat and watch as things deteriorate to a position that we cannot revert. In an effort to make us see those glorious days and moments that made us a proud people, an Education Endowment Fund has been established to raise funds that would be used to assist indigent students whose future would be stopped if there is no one to help them with tuition fees and more funds that would enable them stay afloat with their counterparts.

This week, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 during the finale, we shall be formally launching for the endowment fund. We have invited the world to come and help us achieve this goal, and we are proud that so much ground would be covered given the caliber of those invited for the occasion. The funds so generated will be utilized for the purpose it is meant to achieve.

One of the novel interventions we have introduced and for which we are celebrating on April 24, 2019 is the Business Round-Table Meeting. The Business Committee is desirous as the Association to create the right atmosphere which will enable our young men and women to have business plans which can be translated into concrete realities that would bring development to our land.

The novel idea would no doubt stimulate development and the capacities of those who have participated. Some of the best business strategists are on the panel that would discuss the theme: The Economy of Ngas land: How do we move forward? We made the right choices knowing the value they have always added over the years. They are going to add more value to budding entrepreneurs in the land, who will tomorrow be the signposts for business development.

Also at the business roundtable meeting on the same day is the Business Pitch and Enterprise Competition, during which Ngas entrepreneurs/potential entrepreneurs especially women and the youth who have business ideas but lack the direction to sell it and or build on them are encouraged through a presentation of their unique business ideas/innovations or proposals to a panel. The best three winners will be awarded prizes.

I am happy to state that beyond the competition, the benefits derivable from the competition are indeed enormous, as they are capable of opening the women and youths to the world of business. It is our belief that when such entrepreneurs are introduced to the wider world of business, they will fly higher and higher.

One of the things, we want you to know is  the fact that for us in the Ngas Development Association, our yearly gathering has never been seen as a jamboree. We believe that the gathering affords us the opportunity of understanding our diversity with those of our friends and visitors. In doing so, we are able to come to terms with what should help us maintain those diversities with a view to maintaining a balance for peace.

Talking about peace, the Ngas nation is concerned about the choices we make as a people in order that the peace we enjoyed is maintained. While we support the efforts that are being made by the state, it is right to challenge all nationalities in the state to believe that we can, all together put with one another in order that we can live harmoniously.

If there is anything worth doing, we covet your involvement and association in our drive to change the business environment and thinking of our people about how things should be done. But above all, it is proper that you participate in our activities by reporting correctly those things that you see about us.

I wish to assure you that we have lined up the best of activities for the entertainment of our visitors. The PUSDUNG will continue to improve with each passing year, more so that the Association is being assisted by a crop of experienced hands in the committees we set up to help organize the cultural festival.

While we expect you to be part of the activities, but particularly the festival, you are assured of the best of the tradition of hospitality while in Pankshin.

I implore you all to assist us in reporting the activities of this programme in your various media.

Easter: Gov Lalong urges Christians to emulate Christ

19th April,2019

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong   has admonished Christians to make sacrifices for the nation, the state and their neighbors during this year’s Easter celebrations, just as Jesus Christ who willingly sacrificed his life to bring salvation to the world.

Lalong   stated this in his Easter Goodwill Message to Christians in the state and  urged them to reflect on the twin lessons of the Passion and Death of Christ on Good Friday on the one hand, and His triumphant resurrection after death at Easter on the other hand, with a view to applying the lessons learned in their everyday livelihood.

The Governor  in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mark Longyen, added that, “true Christianity entails showing Love and Sacrifice to our neighbors like the Biblical Good Samaritan, in order to make a difference in the lives of fellow human beings, as exemplified by Jesus Christ.”

“True Christianity also places on our shoulders the responsibility of praying ceaselessly and fervently for our leaders and our country to enable us to overcome the numerous challenges which we currently face as a nation,” Lalong said.

According to Lalong, incidents of insurgency, armed banditry, armed robbery, kidnappings, corruption and many other crimes bedeviling our country can be addressed by prayers as well as inculcating in the youths the right Christian doctrines at an early age.

He, therefore, called on religious leaders in the country to take up the gauntlet of preaching messages of peace, love and sacrifice to their followers in order to build the Nigeria that is our pride and also the pride of our founding fathers.

“Your fervent prayers culminated in my becoming a governor and the emergence and re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, a man of unparalleled integrity and patriotism as President, so the future is bright for our state and country, and we can guarantee the bright future through our sustained prayers and Christ-like lifestyle,” Lalong added.

Lalong Debunks Alleged 1.1 Billion Naira For Terminus Market Demolition...

Lalong Debunks Alleged 1.1 Billion Naira for  Terminus Market Demolition

18th April,2019

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of of Plateau state said Thursday the state government would rebuild the abandoned Jos Terminus Market in order to generate enough revenue to pay the new minimum wage approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The governor said this while fielding questions from State House correspondents after close-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The governor also dismissed reports in some sections of the media that the state government had budgeted N1.1 billion in its 2019 appropriation for the demolition of the marker, saying the report was baseless and unfair.

He said: “The report is not very fair. If you understand the history of the Jos Main Market, you will understand passion for rebuilding that market.  That market was blown off over years ago and has remained like that. The market was our main source of revenue and I saw it as very necessary to rebuild the main market in other to address the challenges of the state including that of minimum wage.

“What somebody saw was the presentation before the budget committee and when he saw N1.1 billion, he said it is for demolition. N1.1 billion cannot be for demolition. There are four components of demolition and reconstruction of the market. The person saw one aspect and jumped into conclusion.

“I just got back from London this morning and I also read the report and I was worried. I called to ask what happened and I was told that he saw an aspect of the budget presentation and he said it was for demolition of the market.

“The entire process has four components, first it has to be a special demolition and you know in special demolition, you don’t bring down the entire market. We have two proposals, either to bring down the entire market and start building new one or carry out the special demolition and reconstruction and the overhaul of the market. There is the technical aspect, the consultancy aspect and the contract itself.

“So, I have asked them to make everything public so that people will not jump into conclusion that we are demolishing the market. It is not everyone that can do that type of special demolition, in Nigeria it has only been done either twice or thrice. I had to travel to South Africa to ensure that if we are going to carry out the demolition, it must be a very special demolition.

“Otherwise, the next option was to bring down the entire market and start rebuilding. The sum of N1 billion can build a new market. The report is wrong and whoever is behind it should get the true facts and he will see that the entire N1.1 billion is not for demolition but for other aspects of the contract including technical, consultancy and the commencement of the rebuilding of that market.”

Forgery Allegation : Rt Hon Ibrahim Baba Hassan Cleared By The Federal Court Of Appeal.

15th April, 2019.

The Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Jos has nullified the judgement of the Federal High Court against the Former Deputy Speaker RT Hon Ibrahim Baba Hassan on alleged forgery of Diploma certificate obtained from the University of Jos.

Hon. Justice Mudassiru Oniyangi, in a consensus judgment, said the that the lower court presided over by Justice Musa Kurya, lack the jurisdiction to enter judgment on a 2015 pre-election suit matter against the former Deputy Speaker.

Justice Oniyangi stated that the case went beyond the stipulated 180 days requirement of the electoral and spanned 3 years, therefore the judgment of the lower court was done without jurisdiction and therefore all written judgment was a nullity,”

The judge therefore ruled that “There is merit in the appeal, the High Court Judgement is hereby set aside,” he ordered.

Kefiano Refutes Claims Of Nursing 2023 Guber Ambition......

Kefiano Refutes Claims of Nursing 2023 Guber Ambition.

11th April,2019

I hereby write to register my utmost displeasure on the subject matter herein mentioned above. For records purposes, I would like the general public to take note of the following.

1. That I, Chief Kefas Ropshik - Kefiano, has never discussed with any individual or group of individuals that I am nursing the ambition to contest for the governorship seat of Plateau State or any political office of such come 2023. And I want the public to note that my consent wasn't in anyway sought for before adding my name to that purported list.... Thus, it's against my wish and I'm not comfortable with such  development.

2. That, my support for the candidature of H.E. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong, during the 2015 and the just concluded general elections, was an attempt to contribute my quota by joining all the progressives people of Plateau State to fight and liberate the state from impunity and dynasty as well as to support the continuation of the good works being done by the led Barr. SBL administration, respectively.

3. That, let all those witch hunting me because they feel I'm going to contest for any political office alongside with them come 2023 note that, God has made me a successful business man. And to Him belongs all the glory, I'm extremely proud and comfortable with that. So, let no one sees me as a thread to his/her political ambition....

4. That, I was almost discouraged to stop the humanitarian services I'm doing to people; given this kind of an unguided attitude being in display by some of our Plateau youths. But to God's glory, I will never fall for such temptation(s). Because my humanitarian gesture is a divine gift that's natural in me.

5. That, I'm  not God. So, I don't know if I will live to see tomorrow let alone 2023. But if God spears us and we are counted amongst the living, I will support anybody I so wish.

Having said all these, I therefore hereby call on the perpetrator(s) of this unwise act; to with an immediate effect, remove my name *(Chief Kefas Ropshik - Kefiano)* from that purported list of the *Prospective 2023 Governorship Candidates from Pankshin and Kanke LGAs,* making the round on various social media handles and causing confusions here and there.

To whom it may concerned, you're advised to do the needful please.

9th NASS : WGYI , Others Call For Speakership Zoning To North Central...

9th NASS: WGYI, others call for speakership zoning to N/Central.

10th April, 2019

A coalition of youth groups in plateau State has called on President Mohammadu Buhari and the rulling All Progressive Congress to  consider balancing the leadership of the nation across the divides of the six geopolitical zones by ensuring the speakership position is allocated to the North Central.

In a statement signed and made public to the media in Jos, Kombo Mathew who spoke on behalf  of the groups urged the highest decision making body of the APC and relevant stakehokders to intervene in the NASS sharing formula for the interest of justice, inclusiveness and fair play to the North Central region.

He argued that "If the body language of the APC National chairman Adam Oshiomole and other relevant stakeholders is anything to go by,  there is a tendency that both the Vice President and the speaker of the ninth assembly may emanate from the South West".

Recalled that the leadership of the ninth National Assembly is the trending caption on the national dailies with over eight contenders for house of reps.

Kombo went further to expantiate on the necessity of the North Central to be given the chance to produce the fourth citizen of Nigeria owing the over 2.400 million votes given to the ruling APC at the recently concluded presidential polls.

He added "We have able contestants from the North Central, the likes Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase who has just been re-elected the fouth time, Ahmed Wase has gathered all the necessary wealth of leadership and legislative experience that will enhance democratization, he is the current Deputy majority leader of the house, an outstanding legislator whose total loyalty to APC is immeasurable should be considered for the position.

The President, Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) Rwas Gabriel Sunday Badung Condemns The Unbated Killings In Zamfara,Kaduna,Katsina And Benue States...

10th April, 2019

The President, Berom Youth Moulders-association (BYM), Rwas Gabriel Sunday Badung Condemns the Unabated killings in Zamfara, kaduna, Katsina, and Benue States. This was made in a press text below;

Berom Youth Moulders-association (BYM), a sociocultural group which is also the umbrella of Berom Youths has condemned the ongoing killings in zamfara State and other parts of Nigeria.

The entire Berom youths are saddened and upset with the spate of unwanted and indiscriminate killings of innocent lives and the destruction of property, especially the bloodbath in Zamfara, Kaduna,Benue and Katsina States.

These killings are not just inhuman but very unfortunate, at a time when most developing countries like Rwanda that had similar experiences in the past are constantly in touch with the reality and is poised to sustain the peace in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide.

Berom Youth Moulders calls on the Federal Government of Nigeria to  rise up to its constitutional responsibility of defending the lives and properties of citizens and this can only be possible if the fight against criminality is objective. The Government should exert the political will needed to apprehend and prosecute criminal elements whose activities have made peace elusive.

The association reminds the Federal Government that the continued killings and heightened criminal activities has the potency to retard our development as investors prefer to invest their resources in countries they are assured of maximum security of lives and properties.

BYM encourage citizens to be law abiding and to remind our own citizens especially those in the rural areas to be vigilant, considering that the farming season is approaching. Ensure that all suspicious activities and movements are reported to security agencies for prompt action please. Also, avoid divisive comments  but rather make good and positive use of the social media so as not to escalate tension in the country.

Long live the federal republic of Nigeria
Long live plateau state
Long live Berom nation

PLATEAU - PUSDUNG Changing The Narrative Of Cultural Festivals...

Plateau -  PUSDUNG: Changing the narrative of cultural festivals

10th April, 2019

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos

Pusdung is a cultural festival celebrated by the Ngas people found in Pankshin and Kanke local government areas of Plateau state .

WHEN the name PUSDUNG was coined through a submission by Peter E. Tungon of blessed memory, except for the Ngas people, not many expected it to change the cultural festival landscape of the state. Many thought it might be staged for a year or two and perhaps go into oblivion. That may be true in certain situations, as cultures and traditions of a people are easily facilitated to disappear when practitioners don’t value them.
That was not to be, for those in that category were hugely disappointed, that it has even outlived some of them. Indeed it was an idea which time was ripe. It changed and brought positive things to the world about the Ngas people; and before long, the bug of cultural festival like a wild fire had been ignited all over the traditional communities of Plateau State.
Many who thought so underestimated the thoughts and enthusiasm that gave birth to it; but much more than that, the Ngas people love their culture round and about it. That could be observed in the annual mobilization from the districts and of the friends of the Ngas people across the length and breadth of Nigeria. That could be observed in the ‘home return’ of sons and daughters of Ngasland during Easter for the festival.
It blazed the trail, ‘conscripting’ other tribes on the Plateau to take to the floor on the way; and making many others to go for new dancing boots. But more importantly, apart from the show of love and togetherness that often characterize the festival, tourism became the major beneficiary. It made the authorities of the industry to take a second look at the map so that the industry can benefit as well as the people.
The beginning of the Ngas annual cultural festival was indeed a harbinger of some sort to some of the festivals that later metamorphosed in the state. The positively infectious wild wind of the celebration of the people’s cultures caught up with virtually all tribes that it became apparent that the state government soon got inundated with several suggestions to having a time table for the festivals.
Such cultural festivals apart from Pusdung, include Bit Gamai, Nzem Berom, Puuskat, Ilum O‘tarok, Bit Miship, Wvang, Bogghom Day, Pus Kang, Puus Dar, Zerechi, Kiim Tehl, Dagaran (Atten), Kiche Day, Tukunku, Kwat Nriyem, Bwanzuhum, WUS, JepJan, . Indeed the list is not limited to only the above; there are many as there are tribes on the Plateau.

The idea of PUSDUNG was mooted during the tenure of Mr. Emmanuel G Manasa when he was chairman, Ngas Youth Movement in 1988
the same year, the acceptance and degree of enthusiasm it has generated over the decades is an indication that the concept was in the interest of the development of the Ngas people; and by extension, draws its friends to celebrate in its rich culture.
As a rallying point for the Ngas people, the Ngas Development Association (NDA) has diligently executed its mandate in the area of organizing the cultural festival, as much as in unifying the peoples of the various districts that make the land. Greatly so, the Association’s objectives are not at variance with what they have continued to do over the years; neither have we had a major scenario that may have questioned their legitimacy. There is tremendous growth on a yearly basis.
That explains in graphic details why the Association has succeeded as much as in bringing together the sons and daughters of the land together on a yearly basis to celebrate its culture and indeed the determination of loving to live as a united entity together with its neighbours.
Over the years, several things have been undertaken by the various leadership of the Association and for the interest of the people, so as to enable it play the expected, but major role in the development of the state and nation. The zeal with David Shikfu Paradang and the other sub-committees have been working assiduously to ensure that the best is achieved during the festival.
Indeed, it is the best that is in the offing, given the determination of the leadership of the Association.

Increasingly, the tourism potentials of Plateau State are giving concerns to be explored  to complement the dwindling economic fortunes in the oil sector.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong    has consistently said this.

Lalong in several fora had said “We cannot afford not to explore the tourism potentials that reside in our cultural tourism and make it a tourism event and when we package and market it well it will enhance our income generation and expand our current revenue profile.

He has vowed to revamp the tourism potentials of the state .

The could be recalled that the Commissioner for Tourism, Culture and Hospitality, Mrs Tamwakat Weli, had recently said the Lalong  led administration is determined to revamp the sector and make Plateau a tourism destination .
