ITF has contributed in  uplifting  the living conditions of Plateau citizens - Gov Lalong

February 28,2020

By Golok Nanmwa,Jos

Plateau state Governor Simon Lalong on Friday said the Industrial Training Fund  (ITF) has contributed in no small measure towards the upliftment of the living conditions of its immediate community and the educational sector in the State through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes.

The Governor made this known while speaking at the Commissioning ceremony of the funds modern library complex , central store and classroom block at the ITF headquarters in Jos .

He said "  Let me equally commend the ITF for the giant strides it has recorded under the leadership of our dearest son and my brother, Sir Joseph N. Ari, who has transformed and refocused the organisation to respond to the needs of Nigerians for entrepreneurship and productivity as several  efforts have led to the empowerment of thousands of Nigerian youths with cutting-edge skills for entrepreneurship and employability in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy on poverty eradication and wealth creation."

"Here in Plateau State, particularly since the assumption of Sir Joseph Ari as DG, our people have benefited from several phases of the Fund’s flagship skills acquisition programmes such as the National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP), where over 1000 Plateau citizens were empowerment with skills and start-up kits. "

"Most of the beneficiaries are today either earning a living in paid employment, or are successful entrepreneurs who are employing others. Because of the impact of the NISDP, the State Government sponsored additional number of trainees for the programme. "
"We shall continue to sponsor such additional numbers for your programmes because I am convinced that skills acquisition is the way to go. We are seeing the results and the multiplier effect is evident."

The Governor further said Plateau is also one of the few, whose indigenes have benefitted from the Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WOSEP) that trained and empowered indigent women, who are today either employed or running their businesses. Again, the State sponsored additional trainees and equally gave all the beneficiaries start-up packs."

"Another 200 Plateau youths were trained in culinary skills courtesy of the ITF’s Technical Skills Development Project (TSDP), while the physically challenged were equipped with skills in mobile repairs and hair making under the Skills Training Empowerment Programme for the Physically Challenged (STEPP-C). "

" All the beneficiaries were supported with start-up kits. In all, through our active collaboration and support, over 5000 citizens have benefitted from these ITF programmes."

He further said " I am aware that ITF has constructed and commissioned two boreholes for the Rantya and Hwolshe communities; trained for free over 200 teachers, donated a sick bay to St. John Vianney Seminary and renovated and equipped an ICT Centre at the Government Technical College, Bukuru as well as the beautification of the State Low-cost roundabout.

"The commissioning of these projects today is yet another display of the magnanimity of the ITF to the people of Plateau State, which we deeply appreciate. We have room for more interventions. Just let us know where you want to site any project and we shall give you the access."

" As a Government, we are willing to collaborate and support all ITF initiatives especially as they concern Human Capital Development, as this is in tandem with the State’s Economic Rebirth vision."

"We are doing a lot through the Plateau Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (PLASMEDA) where we are training many youths, women and men in different areas, to empower them with skills that will support personal initiatives for wealth creation."

"We are changing the orientation of our people, including civil servants, to turn away from relying on salary and government jobs in order to avoid heartache and disappointment particularly when they retire and cannot fend for themselves again."

" It is for this reason that our Rescue Administration is investing in Technical Education and Entrepreneurship so as to inculcate in our younger ones the spirit of self-reliance, productivity and innovation."

"Already, our efforts have started yielding results with our impressive performance at the National MSME Awards where tow of our sons, Jerry Mallo and Luka Pam Bot have broken national records. At the end of last year, we launched BENNIE PURIE, a sports car manufactured by Jerry Mallo."

"Let me therefore assure you that the doors of the Plateau State Government will always be open to the ITF for any further collaboration because we believe that when we empower our youths with skills, then we will be able to address unemployment and insecurity."

"I wish to call on other State Governments, the Organised Private Sector, Non-Governmental Organisations, Faith-Based Organisations, and other well-meaning Nigerians to collaborate with the ITF in the efforts at tackling unemployment and poverty in our nation."

" Plateau State will continue to be a good host to the ITF and will do everything possible to make sure the management and staff of this great organisation operate with little or no stress."

"We would continue to appreciate the ITF for its contributions to the development of the Plateau State and pray that the facilities being commissioned today will be utilized for the benefit of the State and Nigeria in general."

"It would also house a 250 computer based test CBT capacity , as well as office accommodation for staff .

Plateau Government Flags Off Land Sale In New Layouts...

Plateau govt  flags off land sale in new layouts

February 26,2020

By Golok Nanmwa,Jos

Plateau State government today  flagged off land sale in new layouts in some parts of Jos, the state capital.

Speaking at the site of some of the layout toured    Commissioner of Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon Yakubu Dati, said Governor Simon Lalong has approved seven new layouts in the city, and that five of those layouts are for residential purposes while two are for industrial purposes.

He said "The intension of government is to create modern/smart cities and this comes with planning. That is why we started the new layouts, and His Excellency, Governor Simon Lalong, has approved seven new layouts. Five of those layouts are for residential while two are for industrial. The whole idea is to have a planned city such that as the city grows it doesn't  become an urban slum. That is why the planning is necessary.

"We intended to initially fund the layouts, but due to cash constraints and also due to the fact that we need to raise our funding we went into partnership with some serious investors. The whole idea is to make land available to the people with certificate of occupancy. If anyone buys a land, that person is assured of certificate of occupancy.

The Commissioner  who also warned against land encroachment, said perpetrators will be dealt with and that government will not fold its hands to let that happen.

Dati also said "Besides, the layouts are areas with assess roads, water, electricity, essential services, recreation places and other needs of modern estates. We are ensuring all that and we are happy that following the work of the committee, we are happy to flag off sales of lands in the layouts. We have some layouts in Rayfield, Miango Road, Zaria Road, among other places. We are also calling on investors to key into this new layout project which is meant to change the face of our city and our children will inherit a standard city," he said.

He said the land ranges in prizes depending on the locations, and that there is also the possibility of staggering the payment for those meaning to pay in installment.

We are warning people against encroaching on lands, and we are happy that anti land grabbing bill has been introduced in the state house of assembly. When the bill is passed it will become criminal for people to encroach into lands that is not theirs, and we will have the enabling law to prosecute defaulters. In fact the game is up for land encroaches, because we are making things easy for people to own lands, and so there is no need for anyone to encroach into others lands any longer," he stressed .

The Commissioner also   said the will ensure that the sale is transparent and will ensure that all those interested get equal treatment, rather than a situation where the rich people will acquire the lands and the less privilege who are also interested will not get it.

Anaguta Youth Movement Condemns Unprovoked Attack on Anaguta Community
PRESS BRIEFING BY ANAGUTA YOUTH MOVEMENT (AYM) ON YET ANOTHER UNPROVOKED ATTACK ON OUR COMMUNITY BY HOODLUMS AT UBYAL-AYIMAH (NARAGUTA VILLAGE) ON SATURDAY 22nd FEBUARY, 2020.
24th February, 2020
PROTOCOL

Gentlemen of the press, it will be recalled that last Saturday while going about our normal activities, some group of hoodlums decided to attack our community at Naraguta Village in the guise of protesting the demarcation of Land by the University of Jos authorities.

As we are all aware, Anaguta are the aborigines of Jos North and the host community of all the Land housing University of Jos, thereby making Anaguta the host community of the prestigious Institution.
As the host community, we are aware that the University of Jos has legitimately and properly acquired every Land it is situated upon.

We the Anaguta Youths Movement are encouraging the authorities of University of Jos and the Government to continue the demarcation of all their Legitimate Lands in other to secure and protect Government properties against Land grabbers, speculators and Hoodlums who are bend on taking advantage of the University Land that is not fenced.

Anaguta Community is aware that University of Jos has acquired the Land in question and has proper documents to that effect from the B.P.E and has every right to use such Lands as they deem fit. Any individual or group of persons that have any issue with University of Jos acquisition of any Land should follow legal means of addressing his or their grievances rather than resulting to self help which will lead to break down of law and order.

As a community, we all know that no one is above the law, so there is every need for the security agencies to be decisive in dealing with the people that have repeatedly attack the management of the University of Jos whenever they embark on visit to their Land. Also, the government was not spared from such attacked by those hoodlums and Land grabbers.

However, we are calling on all Anaguta people that are alienating the property belonging to the University of Jos, to stop forth with or we shall handle them appropriately.

We call on the Government to urgently reach out to our community that suffered great lost as a result of the last Saturday’s attack as our people are left without houses and churches that were destroyed by the hoodlums in the guise of protesting against the demarcation of Land by the University authorities. The question is what has churches and native houses got to do with the activities of University of Jos? There is more to it, the action is purely criminal and expansionist.
THANK YOU

National President Anaguta Youths Movement (AYM)

Chief Dabang, who is also the chairman of the conference of APC Chairmen of the Northern Nigeria, assured Gagdi of the continued support of the Party and spur him to continue and keep soaring, having the innate traits to succeed and attend the highest political echelon in the country.
