You will all recall that on assumption to office, the executive chairman promise to give out scholarship to Mikang students across the four districts of the LGA, the chairman has just match words with action by randomly picking over 50 students of higher institution across the districts and pay for their tuition fee in full. The executive chairman said the scholarship covers students across M.sc, law, undergraduates, NCE and colleges. He further added that the scholarship scheme shall be in sections and it's our earnest desire as council that before the end of our reign, we shall be able to train thousands mikang students in various institutions.  In his words, "that for us to prepare a greater future for our youths, we must make a deliberate efforts in equipping the next generation through education". By Golok Nanmwa , Jos  Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa on Tuesday blamed lack of adequate funding for  the inability of the Service to deploy technology in manning its custodial centres nationwide. He made this known  when he visited the Jos medium security Custodial Centre which was attacked on Sunday evening by gunmen. Represented by the Deputy Controller-General, (Operations), Mohammed Tukur, he explained there is no way custodial centres would be adequately manned manually except with the help of technology but, “if we don’t have enough releases from the government, there is no way we will be able to cover all our custodial centres with CCTV.” Speaking with newsmen in Jos shortly after inspecting the custodial centre, he disclosed that armed guard on duty were overpowered before help came and so far, 17 out of the 252 inmates that escaped on Sunday have been recaptured and was optimistic that with the assistance from sister security agencies,

Suspected cattle rustlers from Barkin Ladi identified as those who attacked the Jos Correctional Center - Aguda

Suspected cattle rustlers from Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State have been identified as those who attacked the Jos Correctional Centre, the Head of the facility, Samuel Aguda said on Monday  Speaking to newsmen in Jos , he further added that  one official, nine inmates were killed, six were fatally injured, 252 escaped and 12 were recaptured while at the time of this report, 789 inmates are in custody. In his words the attackers who stormed the Custodial Center engaged the Nigerian Correctional Service armed squad personnel in a fierce gun battle before breaking into the yard. By Golok Nanmwa , Jos  Inmates were the major casualties of the  Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jos  when gunmen reportedly stormed the facility in large numbers with sophisticated weapons on Sunday. Sources from the Custodial Centre said that attackers who stormed the facility escaped with their members who were in custody. Further investigation further revealed that most of those killed during the attack were fleeing inmates of the  Custodial Centre. Impeccable sources revealed that one of the casualties during the shoot out with the assailants was alleged to be a one star officer who hails from  Gindiri in Plateau state. Jos Custodial center recover several bodies after gunmen attack

By Golok Nanmwa, Jos  Several bodies have been recovered by officials of the Jos Custodial center  after the  Medium Security Custodial Centre came under attack by gunmen who reportedly stormed the facility in large number with sophisticated weapons. Journalist who visited the facility   has counted  as many as six bodies. It is not clear if the bodies are those of the gunmen who attacked the facility or inmates who attempted to escape One correctional officer was killed and another shot in the arm when the invaders  arrived at the Custodial Center at about 1720hrs on Sunday and immediately made for the main gate where they engaged the armed squad personnel in a gun battle before breaking into the yard.  The front office holding the records of the JCC was set alight by the invaders. His death was reported in Jos after a surgical procedure he under went in a private hospital, domicile in Jos. BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: Hon Henry Soembis Longs Esq. was born to the family of the Late David K. Longs Esq. And Late Mrs Florence Longs in kabwir present day Kanke LGA.  The father of Barr Henry Longs was a workaholic magistrate who traversed the length and breadth of Plateau State(then comprising Plateau and Nassarawa)in the course of discharging his duties. By Golok Nanmwa , Jos  The Plateau correctional service on Sunday confirmed that the  Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jos,  came under attack by gunmen who reportedly stormed the facility in large numbers with sophisticated weapons.  A statement signed by  Controller of Corrections, Francis Enabore, the PRO said that the invaders were said to have arrived at the Custodial Center at about 1720hrs and immediately made for the main gate where they engaged the armed squad personnel in a gun battle before breaking into the yard. 27th November, 2021 Te'egbe, a community under Miango District was attacked at the early of 26th November, 2021 the attack lingered for more than 2hrs from 12am-2am. INVENTORY: During theses attacks we lost 10 lives, 6 out of which were from thesame family, identified as;  1. Gara Ku 80yrs 2. Wiye Gara 67yrs 3. Tala Gara 68yrs 4. Rikwe BalaYoh 65yrs 5. Nigerian airways to start operations April, 2022 - FEC

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved April 2022, as the official date for the long awaited Nigerian airways operation commencement. Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, made this known along with Ministers of Transportation and Finance, Budget and National Planning. Rotimi Amaechi and Dr Zainab Ahmed respectively. The meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja. was on Wednesday, announced. According to Sirika, majority shares of 49% of the Nigeria Air project will be owned by strategic equity partners while 46% by Nigerians, the remaining will be owned by the Federal government of Nigeria which is 5%. The minister also revealed that the council approved N1.49 billion as well, for the provision of Automated Civil Aviation Regulatory Equipment to be located at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Executive Chairman Riyom LGA Hon Gwalson approves new secretary, other appointments

By Golok Nanmwa , Jos  In a bid to improve the machinery of government in Riyom Local Government Council, the Executive Chairman of the LGA Hon Mafeng Galwson has   approved the appointment of Hon. Davou Dambo Mango as Secretary to the Council. A statement signed by the Council boss further reads that Pam Nyango has been appointed  as his  Chief of Staff ,while Hon. David Dalyop was appointed as Director General, Research and Documentation.  Hon Mafeng further added that until  their appointments, Davou Dambo Mango was the Education Secretary, Bassa Local Government Education Authority ,while Hon. Pam Nyango was the immediate past acting Management Committee Chairman, Riyom Local Government Council.  He further added that the appointments are with immediate effect. The vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described the late Captain Joseph Mangtup Din as a man who stood for justice, fairness and equity in all his dealings.  The Vice President said this at the funeral service for the late Capt. Dadu'ut who represents Plateau South  senatorial district  noted that so many rural communities in Plateau South would benefit from this project. Our correspondent reports that similar installations of solar street lights have already been installed in Quanpan , Shendam and lately Mikang. This came to light when the Plateau State House of Assembly gave the Twenty Twenty Two Budget a second reading. Thursday's Plenary which was presided by Speaker Yakubu Sanda is the first since the House relocated sittings to the Old Government House due to effects of damages on its Hallowed Chamber. Presenting the synopsis of the 2022 Budget estimate, House Majority Leader Naanlong Daniel noted income and expenditure captured in next year's budget are geared towards revamping the State's economic fortunes.           Contributing on the debate about merits and demerits of the bill, lawmakers at plenary described the budget as realistic and attainable. They advised government to seek alternative revenue sources to fund the budget. By Golok Nanmwa , Jos  Plateau State Government has  embarked on enumeration of properties in the state which is aimed at generating revenue for the state. The Plateau State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Yakubu Dati, at the training workshop for State Fiscal Transparency, accountability and Sustainability property enumeration exercise disclosed that the target is to enumerate over 114,000 properties around the state which will cover 4 local government area. He also added that the exercise is approved and recognized by the world bank and the Nigerian Governors forum to help facilitate registration of property and payment of ground rent. Yakubu Dati encouraged the trainees to use the opportunity wisely as they acquire new skills to make them more equipped and qualified in their field. The newly posted Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command Mr Bartholomew Onyeka today 16 November 2021 paid a courtesy call on the GOC 3 Div Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali at his office.  Speaking during the visit, Mr Onyeka informed the GOC that he was visiting as a mark of honour and to introduce himself having assumed office as the CP Plateau State Command. He noted that security agencies have to work together if they are to overcome the current security challenges. He therefore assured the GOC of his support and cooperation to record more successes.
