The State of Plateau as a platform seeks to promote democracy on the local level by bringing the fore issues concerning the State, and facilitating citizens debate on public issues, through participation in government decision making.


President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya visited 3 Division Nigerian Army, Jos on a 2-day working visit. During the visit, Mrs Yahaya who is passionate about the welfare of the less privileged within and outside the barracks community, extended her humanitarian gesture to the sick when she visited the 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos. 

At the hospital, the President was briefed by the Acting Commander Major Emmanuel Kanhu on the activities of the Hospital. The President NAOWA undertook a tour of facilities in the hospital. She also presented gifts to patients admitted in different wards of the hospital. She prayed for their speedy recovery and wished them well.

At the City of Refuge Orphanage, located at Dutsen Kura in Bassa LGA of Plateau state, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya donated food items and other house consumables to the coordinator of the orphanage home Mr Joseph Angel. She remarked that the donation was her gesture to support the good work of the orphanage in providing succour to the children in need. She prayed God for the well being of the children and the orphanage home. Earlier, the children rendered songs welcoming the President to the home and appreciated her for the humanitarian support.

The Coordinator of the Orphanage home, thanked the President NAOWA for the support and said it would make a remarkable difference in the life of the children. He prayed for God to continue to uplift the President NAOWA, her members and the Association as a whole.

Continuing with her humanitarian engagements, Mrs Salamatu addressed widows and members of Nigerian Army Soldier's Wives Association (NASWA) at the 82 Battalion parade ground. In her address, the President encouraged the widows to remain focused and resolute as they strive to raise their children to become great personalities with the help of God. She also encouraged members of NASWA to continue to pray for their husbands as they confront the nation's security challenges. She charged them to keep the home front stable and raise God fearing children to be great leaders of tomorrow. She offered prayers to God to strengthen and comfort the widows and grant us a peaceful nation.

Mr Salamatu presented gift items to the widows as a demonstration of her love for them. 

Representatives of the beneficiaries of the President's gesture expressed appreciation for the support and prayed for more blessings for the President.

The President also visited the NAOWA Model Nursery and  Primary School which was  renovated and the facilities upgraded by Mrs Hauwa Ali to provide a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
