SPEECH BY; REV DR. YAKUBU PAM @ THE DINNER ORGANIZED FOR ALL ELECTED PARTY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS IN BEROM LAND

LET US BUILD A STRONG PARTY: REV YAKUBU PAM URGE BEROM POLITICIANS. 


Following the recent party congresses and local government council elections held in Plateau State a few weeks ago, political actors from the Beromland under the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, party in the northern zone have gathered to appraise their performances.



They expressed gratitude to Governor Simon Bako Lalong for conducting peaceful local government general elections in all the 17 local government area councils including the four local governments of Jos North, Jos South, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi where elections were not held in 2018 due to security concerns. 


They hailed the Governor for the successes reached throughout the party congresses conducted by consensus as a way to further strengthen the party. 



Speaking at the thank-you dinner organized to celebrate the elected local government officers, newly elected ward, local government, and state party officials, Rev Pam, convener of the meeting, said their victories was worth celebrating because as he noted, "APC in Berom is gaining political momentum and acceptance" calling on them to come together to help build the party as we "approach 2023 elections". 


He congratulated the new APC State Chairman in the state, Hon. Rufus Bature for emerging through consensus and other officers of the party at all the wards, local government areas, and the state. 


He admonished all to be cautious on how they live and not to pull others down. 



He said " it is high time to tell ourselves the truth. We must ensure we defend the land and not be engrossed in unnecessary political bickering. 


He said party politics is all about development and not division. He encouraged politicians to show magnanimity in all they do to carry people along. 


He said power comes from God and those who have vied for one position or the other and couldn't get should see this as an act of God. He said we must all exhibit tolerance and patience knowing that God is the one who gives power.



He said individual ambition should not override the interest of the land. 


According to him, "We should build and not destroy each other for the sake of position" urging "all to stand firm and not be shaken". 


Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Mafeng Gwalson, Chairman, Riyom local government reechoed the position of the NCPC boss urging for more support and unity amongst the Berom APC family as "it will be very disastrous if we fight against ourselves". 


He said if the party works harder it can win the positions of the House of Representatives and the Northern Senatorial zone. 


Also contributing, a Commissioner with the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr. Jonah Madugu appreciated the leadership role of the NCPC boss for convening this meeting for a second time. 


He said the Executive Governor of Plateau State did a lot in strategizing well for organizing the local government elections, especially in Berom land. 


He said APC in Beromland started like a mustard seed but has today grown to be liked by many political stalwarts of the Berom extraction. 


He said in 2023, APC in Beromland will elect national parliamentarians down to the state. He said, "the collaboration will move us forward and build us stronger". 


He called on all politically elected officers and appointees to work as a team. 


A woman political activist, Ngo Hanatu Jugu described the NCPC boss as the present-day "Moses" of Beromland who has come to save the Berom people from "political bondage and slavery". She said it is the ES who fought for the Chairmanship of the party to come to Beromland and was still doing more to bring " us on board"!


She called on the Berom political leaders and followers to embrace one another
