31:12:2021 Official statement from the command of Operations Safe Haven states that "While the Paramount ruler of Gindiri in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Chief Charles Mato has been with his abductors, the commander OPSH, Major General Ibrahim Ali placed the troops deployed at Gyanbus on red alert and a hot trail of the perpetrators followed” Consequently, "Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the kidnap incidence and are being interrogated”  Following this development, the paramount ruler  early this morning of Friday 31 December 2021 has been released by his abductors.  Meanwhile Operations Safe Haven is still very much on ground to ensure all those involved in the kidnap of the traditional ruler are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Plateau Government halts purported installation of Alh Maiwada Ya'u Mohammed as Danmalikin Pengana

Maiwada Ya'u Mohammed (CEO Jengre Petroleum Company Ltd.) as Danmalikin Pengana by a non-existent "Emir of Pengana".  This was contained in a statement signed by Hon. 28:12:2021 The special task force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) maintaining peace in Plateau and environs, has said the abductors of Sum Pyem, Mr Charles Mato, have demanded N500 million ransom. Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the Commander of OPSH, said this when officials of Correspondents Chapel of Plateau Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists visited him on Wednesday in Jos. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen on Dec. 26 abducted Mato, the Paramount Ruler of Gindri in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau at his residence. Jos polo tournament - 33 teams jostle for glory

By Golok Nanmwa ,Jos  About 33 teams and 130 players are set to battle for honours as the NASCO Group Nigeria-sponsored annual Jos Polo International tournament galloped off yesterday at the Hassan Katsina Polo field in Jos the Plateau state capital. The eight-day tournament will see teams from Abuja, Kaduna, Yola, Zaria, Minna, Argungu, Maiduguri, Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Abuja and Keffi in action. NASCO's team, Red Crown Polo is  also participating in the tournament. The Public Relation Officer and Vice Chairman, Nigerian Polo Commentators, Hassan Gashash said no stone would be left unturned for a hitch-free tournament, adding over N19m had been budgeted for the international tournament. Meanwhile, the acting President Jos Polo Federation (JPC), Edward Fom, assured tourists and polo enthusiasts that the club will host the best winter polo fiesta that will surpass previous editions in every respect in years.

CITIZEN KNOCKED DOWN BY WICKED HIT AND RUN DRIVER

The individual whose picture is shown below was  knocked down by an unidentified vehicle in a hit and run situation. This occurred late last night, at about minutes to 12:00am by the Plateau State Polytechnic, Howlshe, where the driver was left for death.  A good Samaritan by name Elmore who had a serious engagement but had to postpone on seeing the victim battling with his life. He was later rushed to Plateau Hospital where he was reported to have had three fractures, on both legs and arm. He has since been receiving treatment which he is responding to but seems not to be in the  possesion of any of his guardians contact. He was later identified as JEREMIAH and resides around Cocin Church Gigirin, Jos South, Plateau State, Nigeria. Please anyone who knows him should accordingly forward till it gets to his family or friends. Wishing all a safe and peaceful celebrations in good health!

Another terrible accident claims one life at Polo roundabout

There was chaos around the polo roundabout on Wednesday, 22nd of December, 2021. When a heavy duty truck lost control and ran into the building housing both the Jos University Vetenary Teaching Hospital (JUVTH) and karibajo eatery and restaurant. A more serious outcome was averted but the driver of the said truck could not make it out alive as he died within the accident scene while both the spare driver and the conductor of the truck sustained various degrees in of injury and have been since hospitalized, receiving treatment in a nearby hospital. This is an emergency call on the Plateau State Government to enact executive orders on the movement of heavy duty trucks within the State capital. The Legislative Arm of Government also are duty bound in making laws to these effect. The State Ministry of Transportation as well as Ministry of Works to construct speed bumps and vivid road signs in controlling carelessness by road users. GOVERNOR LALONG SIGNS 106.8 BILLION NAIRA 2022 APPROPRIATION BILL INTO LAW

Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has signed the 2022 approved appropriation bill of 106,807,267,642.12 passed by the State House of Assembly into law. While signing the appropriation bill into law at the Government House Rayfield Jos, the Governor commended the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Yakubu Sanda and Honourable Members for their doggedness and determination that saw the expeditious and thorough consideration of the budget which was laid on the floor of the House on 20th October 2021. Lalong said the passage of the bill is another proof of the cordial and symbiotic relationship existing between the Legislative, Executive and Judicial Arms of Government in Plateau State.
