KANKE LGA: PRESS STATEMENT


𝘿𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙆𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙚,

Today marks Hundred days since I took over affairs as the Executive Chairman of our dear Local Government. We have tried to put in our best despite the meager resources available to us as a Council.

As a Government that is people oriented, we have continue to build on the focal points of our Administration of Providing Accessible Primary Health Care, Primary Education, Security, Youth and Women in Governance , Agriculture And having a Need assessment of our people.

With the little resources you have entrusted in our care, We have been able to make judicious use of it.

The following are some of the areas we have touched in our first hundred days in office:

1. 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙪𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 

★We have held engagements with various market heads , leaders of various association of the market in Amper and Dawaki to look at ways in which we could improve the revenue generation of the market and also block leakages

★ Inspection of facilities at the market to see things for our selves, plans are on to fix the dilapidated structures and  also fence the markets to make them secured and condusive for use.

★We are building a new market and Work has also commenced at the Sabon-Hanya Ampang farmers market, this will also help in boosting economic activities in the Local Government.

These measures has yielded positive results as we have had an increase in our internal generated revenue and we intend to invest this funds into the development of the markets.

2. 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙨 :

★We engaged other Government agencies and parastatals such as the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development, Primary Health Care Board, the National population commission(NPC), Primary Education board, Plateau Information and Communication Technology Agency (PICTA), Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Operation Safe Heaven, STF, NSCDC, Boys Brigade Nigeria among others , we will be engaging more to see to it that we bring development to our locality.

3. 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚:

★ We worked closely with the primary health care department to ensure immunization, drugs and vaccines are provided and given as at when due.

★ Work has commenced at the Tuwan PHC clinic which will be upgraded and remodeled into a referral center for other smaller primary health Care Clinics in the Local Government.

★We have also received equipments for the cottage hospital in Kwall Kanke ,We appreciate the  listening Executive Governor of Plateau State for coming to our aid, hopefully operations will commence soon at the hospital.

★We have also organized a free medical outreach for Kanke people to cater for their health needs, we had various surgeries, gave out free drugs and  medical consultations.

4. 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮:  

★We adopted the Community security module to enhance security in kanke LGA, we have engaged traditional institutions, hunters groups and vigilante group  to augment the effort of the  Nigeria Police, STF ,DSS and other security outfit in the Local government to improve security, surveillance , information gathering and  early warning signals in the Local Government. 

★Also visited the Chairman of Pankshin Local Government to collaborate with them on issue of  security along the Pankshin- Kanke Road and boundaries which also translated into meeting with the traditional rulers and village heads of  communities around the affected area leading to the setup of a joint patrol team which has lessen the rate of attacks and insecurity on that road and boundaries.

★We also made out time to visit security check points around the Local Government to encourage the security personnel's on that terrian.

★Our Government has also provided touch lights, boots and some security gadgets to the vigilante association of Nigeria and hunters to help them in security patrol.

★We have also provided ten motorcycles to the military, police, Civil Defense, vigilantes and hunters to also help in security surveillance and patrol at the local Government.

5. 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨: 

★We sponsored the Plateau Radio and Television Cooperation(PRTVC) under thirteen five aside football Competition for kids in Kanke 

 ★Also sponsored the Kanke operation safe heaven youth peace tournament team.

★We also provided soccer boots, socks and footballs to the under thirteen team and also to various football teams of  communities  within the Local Government.

6. 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: 

★We have embarked on assessment tour of schools within Kanke and to ensure that the proper use of schools curriculum and syllabus are followed and also made sure that teachers report punctual to work. 

★We have also made effort to reach out to the National Open University of Nigeria to see if we could have a study centre in Kanke and which the director have visited the Government secondary School Amper and have inspected the proposed site for the establishment of the  Study center in Kanke. We have gone ahead to discuss with various stakeholders in the community and the ministry of Education and have also set up a committee that will see to the establishment of the Open University study centre in Kanke.

7. 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙛𝙛 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙛𝙖𝙧𝙚: 

★In order to enhance effective work, we started paying staff some outstanding allowances especially disturbance and repatration allowances. We shall continue to mutually engage and improve on workers welfare as they are the engine room of this Government.

8.  𝙍𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣:

★We have paid for the completion of the rural electrification project in Myet. In the few coming days work will be completed and the community will have electricity.

As a Government at the grassroot, the Mu'kangke (Vision for a United Nation and Good Governance), the Local Government is faced with a lot of  problems that need urgent attention, there is no doubt that we have the capacity as a Local Government Council to achieve our objectives. We want real change for the better, and we are prepared to work for it.

You have elected us  into office because you trust that we will meet your aspirations. The progress made in these 100 Days bears clear attestation to the great potential that exists in our administration. We will move Kanke Forward.
