Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated winners of the just concluded bye-elections for Pankshin South State Constituency, and Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency held on Saturday 26th February 2020.  Governor Lalong congratulated Chief Ezra Dakup of the APC who was declared winner of the Pankshin South State Constituency bye-election as well as Hon. Dr Nentawe institute 10year best science student endowment fund

BY Pwol Benjamin Dature February, 26 2022 Contrary to reports reaching this medium about voter apathy ongoing in the Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency elections, live reports from the venue of elections show a contrary view to the rumors going round. Reports coming in from various polling points show voters orderly queued, peacefully exercising there Constitutional rights by voting for candidates of there choice. In Alheri polling points 1,2 and 3, women and men where seen in the shade waiting for voting turns, we spoke to one of the voters Pastor Regina, of the Joshua Generation Foundation who affirmed this vehemently. By Golok Nanmwa,Jos  Candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC in the ongoing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency bye-election Hon Abbey Aku has commended the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC )for the conduct of the ongoing bye election. Speaking with newsmen after casting his vote, he expressed confidence in INEC. Hon Joseph Abbey Aku, had recently expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious during the Saturday by-election. He explained that the acrimonious that came up during the party primaries has been addressed with all aspirants who contested with him. Hon Aku disclosed this recently during a press briefing ahead of the Saturday by-election at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Plateau State Council. He expressed optimism that his capability and competency is enough to garner support for him in all communities in Jos North and Bassa Local Government Areas where he has visited.

Our correspondent reports that at the Angwan Gada one and polling units in Tudan wada community in Jos North local government council of Plateau state, voters were seen on the queue for accreditation and voting which were done simultaneously, a development that made the exercise to run seamlessly. After casting his votes Henry Bulus a citizen of Jos North commended INEC’s logistics arrangement, saying it has made the exercise smooth. He said from the report he had received so far, the exercise was well arranged while voting material were distributed early enough to ensure that it was conducted peacefully. RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT FOR BASSA/JOS NORTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY AND PANKSHIN SOUTH BYE- ELECTIONS

In line with the plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct bye-election for the Jos/Bassa Federal Constituency and the Pankshin South State Constituency on 26th February 2022, the Executive Governor of Plateau State has approved the restriction of movement within the respective constituencies.  Therefore, all vehicular movements will not be allowed in the affected areas from 12:00 Midnight of Friday 25th February 2022 to 6pm of Saturday 26th February 2022.  Only persons on essential duties will be exempted from the restriction. GOMBE UNITED'S SUPPORTERS NEVER ATTACKED PLATEAU UNITED BUS

Our attention has been drawn to a video clip trending on the social media platforms alleging that Gombe United's supporters have attacked the bus of Plateau United after our match day 14 clash at the Pantami stadium today. We want to make it categorically clear that Plateau United's coaster bus had an accident around Matrix Filing station Gombe at Tunfure about 10 kilometers from the  Pantami stadium. There was traffic gridlock following fuel long queue and as their driver tried to beat the gridlock, a commercial motorcycle rider ran on to their bus brushing the side and that was how one of the glass of the window was shattered as the remnants of glasses spilled on the club's doctor, as can be seen on this picture below. Gombe United who is in the forefront in the campaign against hooliganism will never condoned such act. It is on record that Gombe United were held at home to a draw at home prior to this game - against Shooting Stars and Enyimba FC and there no any incident

Doctors threaten strike in Plateau over acute shortage of manpower

22:02:2022 Medical doctors working in government-owned hospitals in Plateau State under the aegis of National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners of Nigeria on Tuesday threatened to embark on an indefinite strike action if the State Government fails to meet their demands within two weeks. The medical doctors who addressed journalists in Jos lamented the acute shortage of manpower and working tools in all government-owned hospitals in the State, explaining the situation has caused brain drain, leaving the number of medical doctors working in the State-owned hospitals to less than 60. Court sentences Ex- Minister, Sarah Ochekpe, 2 others to 3 months imprisonment with an option of fine for one million Naira

22:02:2022 Federal High Court Jos Division on Tuesday sentenced former minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, Raymond Dabo and Evangelist Leo Sunday Jitung to three months imprisonment each. The three, now ex convicts have been standing trial for the past four years on charges bordering on conspiracy and money laundering. The sentence however, has an option of fine of One Million Naira (N1,000,000). Details later.

Air Transport: kick-off date for Nigerian air doubtful

The current Minister of Aviation is Hadi Sirika. He was appointed on 21 August 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari. Furthermore, it is worthy of note to recall that sometimes last year, this same medium reported the commencement of business by the formally moribund, national airline AIR NIGERIA. Reports reaching us from the ministry says the April date for the kickoff is very uncertain as factors that aren't favourable may affect the kickoff. Skirmish reports says that a whooping sum of $600 000 was spent on the logo design only, while N6.25 billion was disbursed for consultancy services as well. Accident - Plateau citizens call for the dissolution of VIO

A cross section of citizens in Plateau state has called for the dissolution of the state’s Vehicle Inspection Office VIO. Mr Chris Timur, a citizen of the state who spoke to our correspondent lamented what they termed indiscipline of the personnel, and their lack of respect for the public. Another citizen who gave his name as Ben Tali lamented the rate at which the officials of the VIO disrespect the members of the public and play God. It could be recalled that today Monday February 21st 2022 an overzealous Vehicle Inspection official who was trying to arrest the owner of the above truck at Hill station Junction in Jos North local government council of Plateau state, allegedly struggled with the steering of the  truck leading to the accident although no life was lost in the accident, the driver of the Toyota corolla who was involved in the accident came out unhurt, Including his wife and kids who were returning from school.

We thank God no life was lost in the accident, the driver of the Toyota corolla vehicle came out unhurt with his family members.

The CECPC has instead notified the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC of its decision to conduct zonal congresses in March. MURDER: Alleged killer of Jennifer Anthony a Unijos student, arraigned in court on Monday 21st of February

Gang on Monday adjourned the case between the Commissioner of Police and Moses Oko, (the alleged killer of one Miss Jennifer Anthony a 300 level student of the University of Jos), to the 3rd and 4th of March, 2022, for hearing, but not without a drama. Moses Oko is been charged for Murder of late Jennifer Anthony who's corpse was found in a hotel room. Before the adjournment, Moses Oko, refused to answer any question directed at him by the Court Clerk. This provoked the reaction of the Judge, who called on the Defense Counsel to explain. In his explanation, N. E Jesse (Esq) Counsel for the Defense told the Court that, Oko was not mentally stable, as his senses fluctuates. Reacting to Jesse (Esq) submission, Muleng Alex (Esq), Counsel for the Prosecution told the Court that, the medical report before the Court shows otherwise. BREAKING: Abba Kyari drags FG to court, seeks bail on health grounds

By Nanmwa Golok, jos Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, who is currently in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking, on Monday,  dragged the Federal Government to court. Our correspondent gathered that Kyari, in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, is praying the court to compel the NDLEA to grant him bail on health grounds, pending the hearing and determination of his fundamental right enforcement application. Two kids drown at Jos dam

By Golok Nanmwa, Jos. Two children have been reported to have drowned at a dam in Rayfield Resort, Jos, Plateau State. Our correspondent gathered that the  victims are Michael Nyam, eight years, and Elijah Solomon, six years old. Mr Gyang Pwol, an eye witness, said on Sunday in Jos that the boys were drowned on Saturday evening. He said that they were both residents of Rayfield community. Pwol, that the duo got drowned while trying to get back the shoes of one of their friends that fell into the dam. “They jumped into the deep water in the dam to rescue a shoe of their friend, unfortunately, the volume of water was too much. Pwol, who also confirmed that their remains had been buried, did not give further details. However, ASP Ubah Ogaba, the Police Public Relations Officer of Plateau Command, said the incident was not reported to the police.x

Plateau senator Daduut distributes power tillers, motorcycle, tricycles other items to 600 constituents

By Golok Nanmwa, Jos  18:02:2022 Senator representing Plateau South in the National assembly Professor Nora Ladi Dadu'ut, at the weekend distributed empowerment items worth millions of Naira to over 600 of her constituents. Our correspondent reports that the items distributed included several power tillers , motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, Knapsack and water  pumps for dry season farming to several  farmers, among other items. Speaking at the distribution ceremony, Senator Dadu'ut said the gesture is her own way of showing appreciation to her constituents for finding her worthy to represent them in the senate.
